Who We Are

The Agape Love School of Discipleship is a charitable nonprofit organization comprised of a committed group of mission-minded individuals with a heart for missions mandated by the Lord’s commission in Matthew 28:19 to “Go and make disciples.” We are dedicated to advancing the cause of Christ through educational opportunities and community involvement that foster greater self-sufficiency and sustainability. This is what binds us together in a collective effort to Make-A-Difference by educating youth, transforming lives, and impacting communities.

What We Do

Liberia is still in the process of rebuilding its infrastructure and educational system devastated by the two civil wars [1980-2003] and the Ebola epidemic [2014-2015]. Trained teachers are in short supply and there is a scarcity of adequate school facilities and basic supplies.

Our education programs are designed to help eradicate the high rate of illiteracy, as well as to tackle widespread educational deficiencies. Our emphasis is on putting more value on improving the quality of teaching and learning (especially in early grades), and increasing unbiased access to learning opportunities for girls, women, and disadvantaged youth.
In the area of higher education, we are reaching out by providing scholarships to underprivileged students.
We sponsor and encourage students in our business development program that promotes entrepreneurship toward greater self-sufficiency.

We also provide Bible classes for deeper biblical studies that are tailored to local pastors and church leaders to equip them for ministry in their local communities.

Mission Objectives

Agape Love School of Discipleship has a three-fold mission objective in Liberia:

OBJECTIVE 1

Providing educational opportunities for disadvantaged youth from grades K-12 and college through our Student Sponsorship Program. Also, to establish classes for illiterate adults, especially women.

OBJECTIVE 2

Providing learning and study classes to the Christian communities through online and on-campus Biblical studies and leadership training classes that foster greater and deeper spiritual growth.

OBJECTIVE 3

Providing entrepreneurship opportunities to promising young people to help boost greater self-sufficiency which contributes to breaking the cycle of poverty.

Why We Advocate Education

EDUCATION TRANSFORMS LIVES. We believe that education is an important component of affecting change, not only in the economic status of people, but in the growth and development of communities. Education plays an essential part in the reconstruction of the country especially after going through two civil wars (1980–2003) and the Ebola epidemic (2014-2015) when the entire educational system was severely crippled.

For most children in Liberia, education represents one of the only ways to break out of a life of poverty. Across the country, thousands of families currently subsist on less than $1.25 a day. Only those who can read, write, and do math can hope to overcome the deep clutches of impoverishment.

However, in the educational arena, there is much more than just job skills for the future. It’s playing an increasingly vital role in helping children protect themselves against diseases that can ravage poor communities. Simple information on day-to-day hygiene and prevention saves lives and keeps families together.

An education builds confidence, cohesiveness, and community. Educated children are less likely to become victims of violence and abuse. They are more likely to invest in improving their community when they become adults.

The children today are tomorrow’s future leaders of the country. And we at the AGAPE LOVE SCHOOL OF DISCIPLESHIP believe that a school’s ultimate purpose should be to equip these children to understand the truth about life, the world, and their place in it. A solid education coupled with wholesome and strong Christian morals and values, are the key to making a difference. In accomplishing this, we endeavor to equip our students to recognize the Lordship of Christ in all subject areas of learning, and to respond to obedience to His call for us to be transforming influences in society.

In a final word, let me stress that not only does a school shape a child’s mind, but it also cannot ignore the impact that an education has on the heart of a child.

Christian schools do not only teach information, but they also seek to educate the emotions and influence the actions of a child’s life.
